Define the feeling first
For anyone wishing to give a personal story a recorded voice, with professional guidance and an agreed plan.
Choose one moment that matters most. If every song must be the climax, a natural arc becomes difficult. One or two musical references, with an explanation of why they mean something to you, are more useful than a list of dozens of tracks.
The detail not to leave until last
Assign vocal parts by willingness to take part, not prior singing experience. Agree lyrics and key to help the family feel comfortable.
Write down constraints before committing to a direction: who approves it, when the result is needed and what must remain flexible. That lets the team check compatibility early, rather than discover a mismatch after preparations are underway.
Leave room for the real occasion
Assign vocal parts by willingness to take part, not prior singing experience. Agree lyrics and key to help the family feel comfortable.
Thoughtful planning does not make every moment predictable. It clarifies what is agreed, who owns each transition and what happens if the schedule changes. Establish approval points and keep one current version of the plan.
Bring a clear brief to the conversation
Share a date, venue or intended use, audience, reference and the question still open. The team can then respond to your particular request instead of offering a generic format. You do not need every answer; you need your direction.
